2. The Isle
The Isle is a survival game at first, but it’s also a great hunting game. However, as The Isle is still in early access mode, we can’t tell for sure what the game will look like when it comes out. What we can tell, however, is that it’s awesome at the moment. This is a dinosaur game where you can play as a human or dinosaur, and engage in fierce, large-scale battles in the open world. Because this is a multiplayer game, The Isle puts a great emphasis on skill and removes everything that can make your path to survival easier. Get ready for an ultimate hunting experience!

In the time when we lived in the tribes or in the caves, there wasn’t any other choice but to hunt and kill for survival. Far Cry Primal is a Ubisoft game which tells a story about Takar, a young warrior whose tribe called Wenja needs to survive in a harsh, open world of the game. As a leader and a man with lots of enemies, you’ll need to venture into the wilderness to hunt various animals and craft stuff in order to survive. 4. Animallica
Animallica will let you hunt animals for the greater good, which means that you won’t actually kill that much animals. Instead, you’ll need to prevent a catastrophic event which can cause a mass extinction and wipe out the remaining animals and humans of the planet. As an excellent survival game, Animallica offers a very fun gameplay, beautiful open world and lots of exploration. Should you want to hunt for a special animal, you can use your bow and arrow to do so and there are many different animals in the game. Beware that this is still an early access title, so it’s prone to changes.
5. theHunter: Call of the Wild
theHunter: Call of the Wild is a superior hunting game that will immediately suck you in, as the atmosphere is so awesome. Aside from breath-taking graphics, theHunter: Call of the Wild can pride itself on being one of the best hunting games ever. Don’t expect anything surreal, but an old-school hunting game in which you can hunt animals like deer, bear, etc and explore the world on foot or with your ATV. You can play a singleplayer campaign, which is stellar, or go online and get your friend to play with you. Either way, it’s fun as hell.
6. Depth
Depth is probably the most authentic multiplayer experience you can get at the moment. Being released in 2014, this game still holds well against the critiques and manages to be interesting enough to keep its player base. Basically, Depth is a game in which the sharks and divers collide, resulting in epic and tension-filled multiplayer battles that will kick your ass. Of course, you can play as a shark, which lets you eat the human flesh and ask for more. On the human side, you’ll have guns and… well, that’s that! Let’s see how great diver you are!
7. Far Cry 4
I know we’ve mentioned a Far Cry game before, but this FPS franchise has a lot to offer. Again, you’ll be searching and scavenging in the wilderness, but this time in the modern time. So, firearms, guns, knives, bombs and other fancy gadgets will be at your disposal. The game is set in a fictional land called Kyrat and you are free to explore it however you want. Beware that Far Cry 4 has lots of dangerous enemies which aren’t naive at all! Expect heavy resistance and lots of struggle to survive.
8. ARK Survival Evolved
ARK Survival Evolved was so long in an early access phase that I thought… well, it will never come out! The truth is quite the opposite, though. ARK Survival Evolved made its way through the big doors and quickly became one of the most played survival games. The best thing about the game is that it puts a very high emphasis on exploration, hunting, and building stuff. Being an excellent building game, ARK Survival Evolved lets you search for items and build your shelter, weapons, armor, etc. The only downside is that the game isn’t quite the most optimized, so you’ll need a strong PC to play it.
9. Rake
For those wondering what game can they get under $5, the answer would be Rake. Rake is a game released in 2015 with a pretty underrated mark on it. Sure, it’s an indie game, and indie games sometimes aren’t getting enough attention. But, Rake is a great hunting and survival horror game in which you’ll get to know more about creatures like Bigfoot, Rake, Chupacabras and the other mythical monstrosities. Both singleplayer and multiplayer components are here, for a complete enjoyment.
10. Dinosaur Hunt
Here’s an even cheaper hunting game called Dinosaur Hunt. Dinosaur Hunt is an old-school first-person shooter game in which you’ll do nothing more than hunting the dinosaurs. Yes, it sounds simple, but in my opinion, this game offers lots of fun for the money it costs. The graphics aren’t breathtaking, but the gameplay is good enough for a pocket change game. Yes, this game will cost you a pocket change, so why not try it?
11. Legendary Hunter VR
I assume that not everyone has VR headset at disposal, but for those who do, we have Legendary Hunter VR. This game is truly amazing. Being inspired by the classic NES game Duck Hunt, the game will let you hunt ducks and survive the harsh and beautiful world of the game. While hunting, you’ll come in touch with the wolves at day and crocodiles at night. It’s not only about hunting, but also being hunted. Good luck, you’ll need it!
12. Toukiden: Kiwami
Before KOEI TECMO GAMES released Nioh, which is one of my favorite games, they released Toukiden: Kiwami, a hunting game. It can be seen that these two games have in common some stuff like monsters and fighting mechanics. Toukiden: Kiwami puts you in a role of a Slayer (not a metal band, though) who is given unique abilities in order to save the mankind from its demise. Hunt the monsters and let them get the taste of your sword!
13. Monster Hunter: World
Speaking of monster hunting, Monster Hunter: World came out just a few days ago for the consoles. However, it’s still not available for PC, but the good news is that it probably will be until the end of the year. Basically, this is an adventure game, with lots of RPG elements and streamlined combat. Hunting monsters was never this fun, but excruciating and challenging for the most players. If you aren’t that patient, you can order the game for your console and try it. It’s amazing for now!
14. Hunting Unlimited 2010
Hunting Unlimited 2010 is now an old game, but it still has some life in it. Despite aging badly, I still find this game very amusing, due to the old-school gameplay mechanics and visuals. If you’ve played the first five games on our list, this game will not be that fun. However, if you are a newbie to hunting games, Hunting Unlimited 2010 is still a great bang for your buck and I would still give it a go.
15. Depth Hunter 2: Deep Dive
Hunting the animals on the ground can be fun, but also dangerous. Putting yourself at the risk of hunting in the water is not dangerous, but mind-blowing. When you are underwater, you don’t know what creature can grab you and tear you apart. Depth Hunter 2: Deep Dive is an underwater hunting game that will let you use your spear and hunt various sea animals. If you love diving and exploring the underwater world, Depth Hunter 2: Depth Dive is an amazing title.
16. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a revolutionary game that almost any gamer loves, including me. I mean, what’s there not to love? The graphics are mind-boggling, the world is HUGE, the characters are great, voice acting is superb, combat is amazing, and you know… I could go on like this for years, as this is really a superb game. However, the main point of the gameplay here is hand-to-hand combat which you’ll use to dispatch your enemies. Aside from that, the game lets you complete various side quests and decide the final fate of the characters in the game. If you can, grab the two DLC for this game. You won’t regret it!
17. Dinosis Survival
Dinosis Survival might sound like that old-school PS game called Dino Crisis, but no… this is something different. The sure thing is that there are dinosaurs, and that’s great, but this game is more survival-oriented. This means that you’ll do a lot of hunting for dinosaurs and the other creatures that might or might not attack you. The only downside here is that it’s a strictly singleplayer game, and it might be a good thing to add a multiplayer.
18. BIGFOOT
BIGFOOT is another singleplayer game, which is story-oriented and that’s… kinda cool. Upon the disappearance of few tourists in the national park, the things are going pretty wild and strange at the same time. Because they just went on a raft to the river, the police think that it’s just an accident, but hey… just read the game’s name. Do you really think it could be BIGFOOT? I don’t know, I won’t spoil you a thing, so strap yourself and start digging deeper into this twisted, yet engaging and immersive game.
19. KINGDOMS
KINGDOMS is a medieval game which features a procedurally-created world similar to Minecraft. Speaking of Minecraft, this game also features many RPG elements, so it’s kind of a great singleplayer role-playing game. As there isn’t a multiplayer, you’re going to be traveling the epic lands and do the quests and leveling by yourself. The star of the show is a very smart and adaptive AI, meaning that you can’t just go hacking and slashing your way through the entire game. In order to survive, you’ll also need to scavenge for resources and do some hunting, because you know… you have a variety of medieval weapons at your disposal.
20. Landless
Landless is a game of survival, exploration and of course, hunting. It’s an indie game which looks quite good for the price, meaning that you’ll get to enjoy the visuals for just a few bucks. But, the visuals aren’t the only great thing here, as the exploration is quite interesting. The main story revolves around the sea and the stuff that you can explore and use. If you are brave enough, get your scuba suit and dive underwater to find the great secrets. It’s an amazing game!
