While singleplayer pc games aim for the great story and setting, online games are here for playing with friends. The truth be told, online games are much more fun if you gather a few friends and start a party. As we are near the end of 2017, we’ve seen a fair share of games that emerged during this and the previous year, so we can put out a comprehensive list of the best online PC games. With that in mind, I wouldn’t waste your time anymore! Here are 21 of the best online games for PC according to us.
1. PUBG
PUBG has been in the beta state for far too long, and since it’s released now, it’s time to see how good it is. Well, in terms of optimization, PUBG isn’t that good, but there’s something about the game that pushes the gamers towards it. It’s probably because it’s a great pc survival game that lets you be your own captain. What I mean is that you are in charge here, and you are responsible for your win or loss.
Without any equipment whatsoever, you are dropped into the harsh and unforgiving world of PUBG as you search for the means to survive. The same rule applies to all other players, so try your best and be the ultimate survivor! Oh, I forgot to say that PUBG recently launched for Xbox One, but I would stay clear of it, as it’s obviously a bad port… at least for now.
2. Overwatch
Blizzard also has its magnum opus when it comes to FPS games for pc. I was very hyped for Overwatch, and when it came out, I was damn impressed! Boasting solid graphics and visuals, Overwatch was a sight to be seen. However, the main point here is the gameplay. It’s smooth, responsive and opts for a fast-paced action, which is great. There are over 20 heroes to choose from, and every hero has its pros and cons. It’s up to you which one you’ll choose. See you on the battlefield!
3. CSGO
CSGO replaced the old and worn-out CS 1.6. As much as I am sorry, I am also glad that this game came out. It took everything from its older brother (or father) and upped it to a whole new level. CSGO now has new maps, new weapons, improved graphics, realistic physics and much more. It’s a real tactical pc shooter game that’s unforgiving. You either know how to play and become the best, or you constantly get killed and rage-quit. You can get this game for just a few dollars, so bring it on, boys and girls.
4. ARMA 3
Speaking of tactical shooters, ARMA 3 is a “bread and butter” of such genre. I can comfortably say that ARMA 3 is a simulation game for pc due to its realistic physics and environment. Although the game has a pretty rough single-player campaign, it can pride itself on having an amazing multiplayer component. The online part of the game is awesome, with many weapons, vehicles and the huge world at your disposal. This isn’t your typical run-and-gun game, so don’t expect to go guns blazing. It’s about tactics and patience.
5. Rainbow Six Siege
Rainbow Six Siege marks a great return of the Rainbow Six series, with a slightly different approach. This game is online-focused, which means that you can play both co-op campaign and multiplayer matches. Furthermore, Rainbow Six Siege aims for a mix of both simulation and arcade elements. The concept of the game is based on the police force trying to stop the terrorists from killing the hostages, so you can be either good or a bad guy. Try it now, you won’t regret.
6. Team Fortress 2
You know me, I don’t want to pay an excessive amount of money for my games hence I bring you a free PC game. Team Fortress 2 is such an example. This juggernaut brings an amazing FPS experience right in your face, making you beg for more, more and more! Team Fortress 2 is one of the most popular online shooters at the moment, offering a fast-paced action and lots of weapons at your disposal. The characters here are great and the game is well-optimized, so expect to run it smoothly at almost any setup.
7. League of Legends
Another free game on our list is League of Legends. I’m not a huge fan of the game, but I must admit that game is very fun. It’s not strange to see that one plays for few hours a day as the game constantly pushes you to go for the better score and get another win. It’s a MOBA game in which you participate in 5 vs. 5 matches. Your team grabs a few heroes and the opposite team does the same; the carnage then begins! It’s a simple game to learn yet hard to master.
8. Fortnite
Fortnite is also known as the free PUBG and if you ask me, that’s debatable. However, the game’s goal stays the same, and it’s to survive. As the game is played from the third-person perspective, it opens up a possibility for a higher focus on animations and better graphics. The truth be told, Fortnite doesn’t look that great, but the gameplay compensates for that. Aside from shooting, the game offers a feature in which you can build your shelter on-the-go, thus protecting yourself from the enemies. I almost forgot to say that the game is completely free.
9. Valorant
Valorant is a first-person 5v5 shooter from Riot Games, following the footsteps of many ancestors in the category. Being motivated from many games such as the CSGO, Valorant has different match modes like Unranked, Spike Rush, and Death match. The game is fun to play for those who love a team battle rather than a single-person focused gameplay. The game also offers several unlocks throughout the journey, keeping it enjoyable.
10. Forza Horizon 3
Forza Horizon 3 is a beautiful racing game for PC developed by no other than Microsoft. Being such game, Forza Horizon 3 is available for PC and Xbox One console, although I wish that PS4 was in that queue. Nevertheless, this game continues to impress me with the highly-detailed graphics and a wide selection of cars. You’ll need a beastly PC to run this game properly, so if you want to play it, be ready to sell your organs to buy a GTX 1080ti. Just kidding, don’t do that!
11. FIFA 18
FIFA 18 is one of those games that you play while you drink a beer and eat some snacks with your friends. This great football PC game might be the greatest sports game you’ve ever played! Every football game is more fun with friends, so FIFA 18 offers an online mode which you can use whenever you want. On top of that, you can play an amazing single-player campaign in which you play as Alex Hunter. It’s great to see that such a game pushes the boundaries, and I’m very excited about the next FIFA game.
12. War Thunder
War Thunder is one of the best WW2 games for PC. As the infantry combat is absent from the game since its release, War Thunder’s focus is on vehicular and air combat. And oh boy, does it delivers! War Thunder relies on the sheer power of WW2 tanks, armored vehicles, and aircraft to bring you the harshest and most intense experience ever! If you are worried about the balance here, you should now that every single player is endangered and even the planes can be easily downed with the anti-aircraft weaponry.
13. World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft dates back more than a decade ago and it’s still one of the most played games on the Earth. So how come this be? Well, the mastermind behind this game is Blizzard, so it’s not strange that the game sells so well. World of Warcraft is an online RPG game for PC that relies on creating your character, exploring the in-game world and participate in PvP matches. There is a great leveling system and the game is balanced just fine. However, WoW may be expensive for you since it includes a monthly subscription.
14. World of Tanks
World of Tanks is a game of tanks for pc. Yeah, I’m Sherlock Holmes now, bravo for me! This free game is here to bring you the best tank experience in your life. Since it’s focused only on tank battles, the game is able to allow you to buy different tanks, customize them and let them shine in the battle. You wouldn’t believe me how much this game can be fun until you really try it. It’s intense, it’s punishing, but very rewarding.
15. The Division
The Division is one of the most popular Ubisoft games. When it was released, it was plagued by some minor and major glitches and bugs, and it’s a victim of Ubisoft’s downgrade era. Such a shame for this great game. However, The Divison got better over time, and now it’s an amazing third-person shooter for pc with survival elements. The game is also a strong contender for a great RPG game since it has an in-depth progression system that consists of leveling your character, weapons, armor and overall stats. The game was free for some time about a month ago, and Ubisoft offers a free demo for you to try and buy the full game if it’s good for you. If you don’t quite like it, check some other Ubisoft games for pc.
16. Rocket League
Rocket League melds everything that men love, and that’s football and cars. Driving fast cars is so badass, but kicking a ball with your car… woah, that’s a whole different realm! While Rocket League can be played solo, the real fun comes from playing it online. And let me tell you, you’ll get your ass kicked over and over again for a long period of time, mainly because the game is very hard to learn. Once you learn how to play, I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
17. For Honor
For Honor is surely an honorable mention, so let’s do it for the honor of For Honor. It’s an online fighting game for PC, in which you can choose from one of the three powerful factions. Vikings, Samurai, and Knights are the factions you get to choose. Should you choose your faction, you’ll be greeted with the combat specially tailored to that faction. This means that every faction has its own, distinctive fighting style, so you can carefully learn and see which one is suitable for you. I’m going to go with the Samurai, and if you dare, cross my line!
18. Minecraft
Minecraft might be the worst-looking game on the list, but it’s so immersive that the player base just keeps rising. It’s a great pc game for kids due to its visuals and the gameplay principle. As it’s a survival game, you’ll need to build your shelter, search for various items and food and even kill in order to live another day. However, the game’s visuals don’t make the game that violent, and it can be played by both kids and adults. It’s a low spec pc game, which is great for the budget gamers.
19. GTA V
I know it’s strange to see GTA V near the end of the list, but that’s how it is in the life. GTA V is one of those games you either love or hate. It has everything you need for an open-world game, including great graphics, shooting, driving experimenting with various weapons and scenarios and of course, online mode. GTA V is one of the best multiplayer games to ever tread the planet.
20. Destiny 2
Before its release, everyone was so hyped about Destiny 2 that it was almost cancerous! Destiny 2 was one of those games that almost got plagued by the hype, which often happens with such games. However, Destiny 2 managed to hold its ground, and it’s now a popular MMOFPS game. Aside from the shooting, Destiny 2 offers a great, albeit short story that you can play co-op. The weapons in the game were upgraded, and the visuals are much better now since the game got its share of glory on the PC.
21. Diablo 3
Of all Diablo games, it’s often the second game that’s most praised. I don’t know about you, but Diablo 3 is one of my favorite hack-and-slash games. Diablo 2 was also great, but it aged badly, so Diablo 3 took its banner and held it high until the victory came. As it’s Blizzard’s work, Diablo 3 offers a constant internet connection, which may be a problem for some, but it isn’t strictly a multiplayer game. You can play a single-player campaign here, and it freaking rocks!
