This year was a great year for gaming. Many of the sequels were made and some fresh games came out. As it stands, 2017 was one of the best years for the gaming industry, but also one of the worst, as we really had those “wow” games, and those very uninspired. Thankfully, the gaming evolves and the new trends have been set, so we have some pretty good promises for the next year, from the developers. Today, I want to talk about the best upcoming PC games. It’s December now, so we almost made it to the New Year! Below is the list of best upcoming PC games, brace yourselves!
How to choose from Upcoming Games?
There are plenty number of things you may take into account or consider when given a list of future games to assist you in deciding which ones appeal to you the most. Here are a few advices or some suggestions:
- Consider your preferred game genres before choosing a game. Which video games do you like best: difficult puzzle games, fierce shooters, or captivating role-playing games? Keep an eye out for new games in your favorite genre.
- Take into account the game’s setting and narrative. Do you like historical locales, fantastical settings, or futuristic settings? If the game’s plot intrigues you, read the descriptions or watch the trailers. Also:
- Graphics & Art Style: The attraction of a game can be greatly influenced by its visuals. See if the graphics and art style are visually attractive to you by viewing screenshots or videos. Choose games that suit your interests, whether you choose realistic graphics or more stylized and cartoon-like aesthetics.
- Reviews and Previews: Keep an eye out for recent or forthcoming game reviews or previews. YouTubers and gaming websites frequently offer insights and thoughts regarding the game’s features, gameplay, and general quality. These can aid in determining whether a game is potentially worth your time and money.
Upcoming
These are the list of games that are going to be released soon, announced, or planned. Keep in mind that it might take us some time to update the list.
1. Horizon Forbidden West
The highly anticipated sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, from Guerrilla Games, should delight fans of the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn. This action role-playing game features a gripping blend of exploration, fighting, and a densely woven narrative. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity battles enormous mechanical beasts.
In this new chapter, the main character Aloy travels to the unexplored regions of the Forbidden West where she meets new tribes, breathtaking landscapes, and even deadlier machines. Horizon Forbidden West promises to be an unforgettable gaming experience with to its stunning visuals, engaging characters, and expansive open world to explore.
2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, is a highly anticipated and a waited upon first-person shooter game which, is set in a post-apocalyptic world which is impacted really bad by the Chernobyl disaster. As a scavenger known as a Stalker, you will get to explore the dangerous and contaminated Zone and come across mutated animals, adversarial factions, and poisonous curiosities.

Released
These games are already released and no longer considered upcoming. More items from the above section will be moved here as they get released.
1. Far Cry 5
Unlike the previous games in the series, Far Cry 5 will abandon its exotic roots and put you in a different setting. No more Kyrat and no more ancient setting of Far Cry Primal. Far Cry 5 will take you on an epic journey in the US, in a fictional Hope County region. As seen from the trailer and gameplay, the game looks stunning. The gameplay might be the good old Far Cry-ish gameplay, but the game is very fun. They also introduced a “buddy” system here, letting you use your animal companion to assist you in fighting. Please, just please DO NOT kill the animal, or I’ll kill you myself!
2. PUBG
PUBG is one of the most popular multiplayer games, and we are just days out of its release. I know you maybe played it and enjoyed it, but PUBG is still an upcoming game. This can also be seen, especially when it comes to the optimization which isn’t the best. But, PUBG offers very satisfying gameplay, shooting mechanics that are great and that intense feeling that I like. Plus, the developers are constantly listening to the community surrounding the game, and the improvements are made upon that. When the game comes out, I hope to jump in and never jump out.
3. Crackdown 3
Crackdown 3 is a crazy game. It’s a colorful piece of work, and its settings are touching a little bit of that cyber-punk thematics, but not too much. Here, you are a super-cop and you’ll fight crime using your futuristic guns and powers in a huge, open-world setting. The game offers a campaign, which we’ll see how will it turn out, but there is also a multiplayer mode to tackle along with co-op. Either way, I hope I’ll have much fun with Crackdown 3, and it’s coming in early 2018. Yummy!
4. Metro Exodus
Metro: Last Light was a phenomenal game, and while this game was a very claustrophobic experience, Metro Exodus takes you outside. Was it a good decision? Well, as seen from the gameplay, Metro Exodus abandons its tradition, and the name Metro is just here for the sequel. Don’t get me wrong, this game kicks ass! It looks gorgeous, and those open-world post-apocalyptic scenarios are to be saluted. I hope you can buy a great GPU until the game comes out because it will surely be demanding.
5. Vampyr
Vampyr is a very authentic game, that I can’t wait to play. As the developers said, the game will be pushed out in a first or second quarter of 2018. It’s a role-playing game which puts you in a role of Jonathan E. Reid, a doctor who was made into a vampire. This creates such a mess and paradox in the game, as you’ll constantly be able to kill people or spare them. The blood thirst grows and you’ll be able either to utilize it or finish the game without killing anyone. Sounds great to me, I just need to wait few more months…
6. Fortnite
Fortnite is an upcoming survival video game, and it’s often compared to its much more successful brother PUBG. Both of these games are focused on survival, with the addition of singleplayer to Fortnite. Fortnite also doesn’t look that good, as the main focus here is on surviving the vicious fights and crafting various shelters and constructions to help you. I’m very hyped for this game, and I enjoy playing it, and you know what? The game is absolutely free to play at the moment! Don’t wait; join us and let’s have fun!
7. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
Obsidian Entertainment decided to surprise a huge base of RPG lovers with this new PoE game. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will be released in 2018, although the date isn’t known. So, what can we expect from this game? If the game plays like the previous one, well… I think we have a new best RPG ever! The game will be set on both sea and the land as you explore the dangerous, colorful, yet brutal world in the game. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire also looks very good, and I’m glad they improved the visuals. You guys keep an eye out for this game, it’s awesome!
8. A Way Out
A Way Out is an upcoming game where the main goal is to escape the prison and survive outside of it. If you like Shawshank Redemption, this game will surely ring the bells for you. It’s a coop game, and you’ll have lots of possibilities to escape the prison. This isn’t a cheap action game, where you can just shoot the crap out of the police, but carefully manage your steps and get out of that place! As the game is published by EA, I just hope that they won’t crap us again like they did with Battlefront 2. No more loot boxes, please!
9. State of Decay 2
State of Decay 2 continues where the first game left off. If you remember it, this franchise is about surviving in a harsh, dark and cold world of the game. The addition of zombies might be a little cliche, but there’s nothing wrong if it’s done right. State of Decay 2 will allow cooperative gameplay, which further adds the depth of the game. The game is coming out in Spring of 2018, so I hope that some of the issues with the previous game will be ironed out, and some new features will be introduced.
10. Skull and Bones
It’s not only the EA that has plans for the next year but another giant in the gaming industry. In the second half of the year, Ubisoft will present us their newest project called Skull and Bones. I guess they’ve taken the inspiration from their AC: Black Flag game, so they made the game about naval warfare and piracy. Well, they haven’t finished it yet, but they will, I guess. Such games are much more fun in the multiplayer, and from what I’ve seen, Skull and Bones will offer that. This game will make it or break it!
11. Anthem
BioWare is a developer known for their Mass Effect franchise that didn’t finish quite well with Mass Effect: Andromeda. However, BioWare decided it’s time to stop fooling around and announce this epic game called Anthem. It’s an action-packed RPG game that puts you in a role of a Freelancer as you explore the surrounding landscape. With the various exo-suits at your disposal, you can use unique superhuman abilities and weapons to defeat your enemies. Expect this game in the last quarter of 2018.
12. Darksiders 3
If you played previous Darksiders games, you have a huge reason to be hyped. In the next years, Darksiders 3 will be released! This hack-and-slash game is here to bring you the most fluid, beautiful and streamlined gameplay, that you’ll experience in the series. In the previous game, you controlled Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Here, you are Fur, who seems to be the most interesting character in the series, due to his fighting style and use of magic. I just hope they won’t mess it up, my controller is ready and I’m eager to kick some ass!
13. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown relies on its use of Unreal Engine 4, which promises great visuals. As it’s a flight game, you can’t expect some great scenery, but you can expect balls-to-the-wall air combat. Thankfully, the game offers an arcade experience, so lovers of aircraft can play it without a problem, even if they never played such games. If you happen to own a PlayStation 4, there will be a few bonus missions for PlayStation VR, so expect some great moments with this game.
14. Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a highly anticipated upcoming game for PC. However, the exact date of the release isn’t known, but we know a few facts. Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a huge game and will offer much to do. Coming from CD Projekt RED, I have zero doubts about it, as this is the team that worked on The Witcher 3 game. More about its gameplay and the story will be soon revealed… at least I hope it will be. If this game manages to be great like The Witcher 3, then CD Projekt RED will have much to brag about!
15. Hunt: Showdown
A few years ago when the last Crysis game was released, Crytek fell into the oblivion. I haven’t heard about these guys for a long period of time, and now they come with this game. Hunt: Showdown is probably the most visually impressive game on the list because you know… CryEngine. This beastly engine returns once more to shit on your CPU and GPU and laugh directly at your face for having a weak PC. It’s a multiplayer coop game and you’ll play like bounty hunter that hunts beasts for the living. I just hope my PC can handle it, and everything will be fine.
16. Surviving Mars
Surviving Mars is a brand new strategy game that will be released next year. It’s like a SimCity set on Mars. Sounds exciting? It should because this game will offer fantastic visuals and lots of stuff to do in the game. Although it’s a strategy game, the goal here is to create your colony and use various strategies in order to survive. Oh, and the aliens are also included here, so it should be fun to play and explore.
17. Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves is an upcoming Windows and Xbox One game. It’s a cross-platform experience that allows you to play with your friends on Xbox or Windows platform. Now, as you’ve probably guessed from its name, Sea of Thieves is focused on pirates. The gameplay is from the first-person perspective and the only available mode is multiplayer. As it’s an action-adventure game, I expect it to be very interesting and not to get boring fast, because of the absence of a singleplayer campaign.
18. Code Vein
Code Vein shares much with the games like Dark Souls 3 and Nioh. This action RPG game is developed by Bandai Namco, which is a well-known studio for this kind of games. If you like Souls games, you can expect a similar story here. A post-apocalyptic dystopia, dark thematics, slow-paced and careful combat and a hard difficulty. The game will use Unreal Engine 4, granting great visuals.
19. Dragon Ball FighterZ
When I was a kid, I remember watching Dragon Ball with my friends, and those were the times, folks! Now, Arc System Works is developing a new Dragon Ball FighterZ game. This fighting game will be released in January 2018, so you can expect to get your dose of slashing soon. Gameplay-wise, the game will let you choose three characters and form a team, then fight versus the other team. I hope you’ll have a chance to kick your friends’ butts and laugh at them for being noobs!
20. Monster Hunter: World
The whole concept of the Monster Hunter series is very simple, and it’s to hunt the big and dangerous monsters. Monster Hunter: World is an upcoming game in the series which promises to expand further from this concept by introducing some new stuff and improved visuals. It also includes lots of RPG elements, aside from great hack-and-slash action, which should give the game more space for experimenting.
Best Upcoming Games for PC: Conclusion
There you go, guys and girls! Our journey ends here, and if I forgot to mention a game that you like, then don’t hesitate to remind me. We all make mistakes. So, what game are you looking forward to? I will go for Far Cry 5 and surely test my skills in PUBG these days. It’s gonna be a busy year, and I hope you’ll enjoy gaming, with these games.
