Wondering what is the best video game on PC of all time? Well, that’s a bit hard to tell, without starting a war between the gamers. However, as video games come in all shapes, genres, and sizes, we can tell with a certain accuracy what are the best games for PC that you can play right now. This year was a great year for gaming, but so was the last year, and the year before and the choice is overwhelming. With that in mind, I will put a special list of 20 Best PC video games that will provide you with lots of fun and memorable moments. If you are comfortable in your chair, sofa or bed, the list of best video games for PC is below.
1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Compelling story? Check. Great visuals? Check. Simple, yet effective gameplay? Check. I could go on like this forever, but you get the point. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is simply an amazing game, a game that will make you want it more and more when you play it for the first time. In this game, our protagonist Geralt of Rivia makes his return as he searches for his adopted daughter Ciri. Here, you will fight various enemies, but also get your five minutes of peace, while talking to interesting NPCs, upgrading your weapons and gear, and simply admiring the graphics of this game, which is phenomenal! The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will remain in my memory as a masterpiece, for sure.
2. DOOM
I come from the era where FPS games were at its peak, so it’s normal for me to love DOOM. Of course, I’m not talking about the first DOOM (which is badass as hell), but this new DOOM. The game looks amazing, and the gameplay is fast-paced, explosive and will make your blood boil and your palms sweat as you run and gun your way through the levels. The demons are ruthless and will try their best to make your head go off, or slaughter you like you are a lamb. Are you hardcore enough to stand up and fight? Find out in DOOM. Doom or be doomed!
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Skyrim is a staple of RPG genre, and it’s one of the greatest games ever made. Its huge open-world environment and leveling system are going to make you satisfied, and although the graphics are a little outdated, Skyrim still looks great. It’s a classic RPG game for PC, where you’ll level up your character, fight various enemies, use spells, collect loot, find weapons, etc, etc. But Skyrim does everything in the game so good, that it leaves nothing to be desired.
4. Assassin’s Creed: Origins
Assassin’s Creed is both good and bad series, but Origins took gaming community by storm with its renewed gameplay mechanics, graphics, and setting. It’s set in ancient Egypt, where you’ll have the honor to explore its vast open world, fight in the desert and seek the ancient relics in pyramids. This game also looks gorgeous, plus it introduced RPG elements into the game, so you can now upgrade and level up, which is quite uncommon for AC game but works flawlessly here. I’m confident enough to say that it’s THE BEST game in the series.
5. GTA V
GTA V is one of my favorite games ever, although I’m not that big fan of the series. This game made me love GTA, because of its open world and lots of stuff to do there. I mean, it’s not about quantity, but quality, and GTA V nails in both compartments. It offers a big space, but it’s filled with stuff to do. Other than that, GTA V has a great campaign, offering three playable characters, plus a multiplayer component, which is amazing. This game is both a great singleplayer game and multiplayer game for PC.
6. World of Warcraft
MMORPG genre reached its peak with World of Warcraft. This game took everything that’s amazing about the past games in the series and took it to a whole new level, introducing a new gameplay and a multiplayer component that will blow your mind. Although the game is old now, there are still numerous expansions and updates, making it one of the best games ever. If you look for a quality MMORPG, don’t look further than this!
7. Divinity: Original Sin II
Divinity: Original Sin was an award-winning RPG, and the sequel is even better. I get it now why it’s called Divinity; it’s associated with the divine. Just kidding, but I’m not kidding when I say that the game is excellent. It’s a classic role-playing game, where you will fight and upgrade your characters, and there is even a multiplayer mode where you can play the interesting singleplayer campaign with your friends. On top of that, Divinity: Original Sin II looks amazing for a game of this genre. Definitely one of the best RPG games ever.
8. Overwatch
Although it’s a fairly new game, Overwatch quickly earned its title of being one of the best MMOFPS games. It’s a game developed by Blizzard, and it has multiple heroes which you can choose from, and tailor the gameplay to your skills. For example, some of them are big but slow, while others are fast, but do less damage, etc. Overwatch is a very fun and colorful game, and it’s a great way to introduce yourself to fast-paced action if you didn’t already.
9. Dark Souls 3
Dark Souls 3 is without a doubt, the hardest game on the list. It’s a role-playing hack & slash game, where everything in the game is against you. The game is a perfect killing machine, and you are the perfect victim. Here, the bosses are relentless, and you’ll be surprised to see that even the first boss, which you’ll encounter minutes after starting the game, will kick your butt and challenge you to the maximum. Other than that, the game looks good, and the gameplay is simple, but not the game itself. It’s a game for skilled and experienced players.
10. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
I was so hyped for Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, and when it came out, I wasn’t disappointed. It’s easily one of my favorite FPS games ever! It’s an action-packed title, where you’ll kill Nazis in many ways; you can stealthily kill with your ax or go guns blazing for a true Wolfenstein experience. Our protagonist B.J Blazkowicz is more fun than ever, and he is so badass, which adds a certain maturity to the story, while also having a good sense of humor. In the end, I was very sorry that the game didn’t last that long.
11. Mortal Kombat X
I simply had to include the fighting game on the list, and I decided that Mortal Kombat X is the best choice. Why? Well, this game plays buttery-smooth, has fantastic characters and looks AMAZING for this type of game. I haven’t seen a fighting game that looks better than MKX. There is also a solid singleplayer campaign, multiple new characters and even faction war, which is badass especially when played online. Generally, Mortal Kombax X brings the best experience you can find in any fighting game for PC.
12. Cuphead
What does it take to be a hard game? Well, it takes to be either Dark Souls game or Cuphead. This game is freaking hard to beat! It boasts that simple run & gun gameplay, which I like, but it’s not all about that here. You’ll have to have some very fast reflexes and a little bit of luck to beat it. It’s a game inspired by 1930s cartoons, and it looks interesting and unique. But don’t let it trick you with its visuals. Under all of this is hiding one evil, sinister and unforgiving game.
13. The Evil Within 2
The horror genre is my favorite type of genre when talking about games and even movies. I’m a relatively meticulous when it comes to horrors, but The Evil Within 2 is a fantastic game, combining great shooting mechanics and horror elements that will freeze your blood and make your feet cold. The best way to describe this game in a single word is TERRIFYING! The game continues where the previous game ended, and Sebastian Castellanos is once again put into the STEM to search for his daughter Lilly. But something isn’t right there, and it’s up to you to dive into the world of The Evil Within 2 and bring peace to our protagonist.
14. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Speaking of great horror experience, RE7: Biohazard is another great example of such game, played from the first perspective. In this game, you’ll fight, sneak and crawl for your life as the disgusting Baker family tries to kill you. The game is spooky from the very beginning to the very end, as you venture through the darkness of the Baker house, courtyard, ships and abandoned villages. The game will make you scared to death, and even though you have your weapons, your ammo will be scarce. Open your eyes, and don’t even blink, as death could be in every corner!
15. Prey
Prey combines several genres into one, taking the best from the legendary System Shock 2 and Deus Ex series. It’s a shooter game, but not really a shooter game. It’s a role-playing game, but it’s also a stealth game. Nevertheless, I won’t classify the game but just enjoy it. In Prey, you are trapped in a space station where the dangerous alien creatures called Typhon invaded the ship, and are the main threat to the human race. You’ll need to rely on your stealth skills, GLOO gun, exploration and leveling in order to beat the game. It’s a long game, but the satisfaction when you beat it is priceless.
16. CSGO
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one of the best FPS games for PC. It’s a multiplayer game, where you’ll go against terrorists as a counter-strike force, or vice versa. I mean, CSGO is a well-known game, there’s not much to tell about it in terms of gameplay. However, CSGO introduced some new features like skins for weapons, several new weapons, a new set of maps and much more. The game even has a competitive mode, where you’ll be able to receive a world rank for your performance. CSGO is truly a great FPS experience, but it’s a tactical shooter, made for team play.
17. Fallout 4
The first Fallout game was a revolutionary role-playing game, and it wasn’t even an FPS game. Now, Fallout 4 boasts great graphics, solid gameplay and a vast, open world to explore. In this game, you’ll explore Commonwealth, a fictional city that’s been devoured by a nuclear catastrophe. You are in a role of the protagonist who is searching for his son after he was taken by the unknown group, that killed his wife. On your journey, you’ll be able to explore the game world, talk to NPCs, have a companion and build stuff. It’s an adventure filled game with stuff to do and will give you lots of fun.
18. Portal 2
Portal 2 is a masterpiece of its own genre. It’s a puzzle game, but also a platformer, played from the first-person perspective, that will challenge your brain, but also your reflexes. You’ll be able to use that famous portal gun, in order to create portals to advance the levels. Use your left click on the mouse, and you’ll shoot a blue one. Using the right click shoots an orange one. Pass through one of them, and you’ll appear at the other. Sounds simple? Try it for yourself!
19. Minecraft
What can be so great about a game that doesn’t even look that good?! If you truly appreciate video games, you know that Minecraft is one of the greatest video games on PC. It’s a great survival pc game, where you’ll need to build your shelter with the chunks in the game, in order to survive the night, and loot during the day. There are both singleplayer and multiplayer parts, but playing with your friends is the best. That way, you can have the full experience by looting, building shelter, fighting and exploring with your friend or friends.
20. Team Fortress 2
For the end, I decided to introduce you to a free game for computer, and it’s Team Fortress 2. It’s a first-person shooter, with a high focus on fast-paced gameplay, and great characters. Team Fortress 2 has it all; from great shooting mechanics and solid graphics to satisfying gameplay and funny characters. Be sure to try it out, and join millions of players having fun with this game.
