Halo Infinite just dropped, and it is one of the most anticipated titles of 2021. The game had a lot of hype going around it, and after over a year’s delays, it is finally here. It is 343 Industries’ biggest project here and was aptly described as Master Chief’s most ambitious story ever. The game has a single-player campaign along with the classic Halo multiplayer experience. However, the latest entry in this long-running series is quite different from previous installments. The game has a lot of changes on board, especially in the campaign mode.
Unlike previous years, the campaign mode is not restricted to a single playable level which the players must fight through. This time, Halo takes much of an open-world approach and provides players with a vast and open land to explore and play. This alters playtime significantly. Players who just want the story can easily ignore much of the world and get through the campaign much faster than the explorer inside you. There are a lot of collectibles in the world, and the astounding level design means that players can spend hours just staring at the extremely detailed landscapes.
Other factors that can affect playtime include difficulty level and the skill of the player. Harder difficulty levels do mean that players might have to retry some sections of the campaign that focus on hardcore combat. Also, higher-skilled players can easily get past the campaign. Players who die quite often will take much longer as compared to others.
Overall, for an average player, the campaign will last around 8 to 12 hours. This isn’t a perfect guess because the playtime can vary wildly depending on the player’s attitude and mood in the game. But, most players will be done with the campaign within around 8 to 12 hours. But the multiplayer will keep the game alive for hundreds of hours after the campaign, so you will not easily run out of Halo: Infinite content. Also, the in-game timer does not count the cutscenes. So, if you intend to watch all of them, the timer can exceed the 8 to 12-hour limit provided earlier.
Those who want to enjoy everything the game has to offer can expect another 6 to 9 hours of Halo: Infinite single-player gameplay.
Players who picked up their first month of the Xbox Game Pass subscription for $1 need not worry as a month is a lot of time to complete the game. Also, the Game Pass subscription contains the full campaign, so players can easily play through it without a problem. Although some factors like the amount of time spent gaming every day will matter, for an average gamer, 1 month is enough to hurry along with the campaign. However, players who want to enjoy everything Halo: Infinite’s campaign might have to purchase the full game or get another month of Xbox Game Pass to play it out entirely.
Halo: Infinite has a great campaign, and it is a recommendation. It lived up to its hype, and every second spent in the game will be worth it. The game is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, or along with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
