Valorant is a well-known first-person shooter game whose popularity raises concerns with storage requirements. It’s a video game with a focus on PvP (Player vs Player) in two teams of 5. Though developers optimized it to run on as many systems as possible, even those several years old, system requirements grew since its June 2020 release. This is the direct result of content updates and graphical enhancements. It’s also a consequence of Riot Games wanting to rival games with a massive audience and similar genres such as Call of Duty, PUBG, or Apex Legends. With all that said, let’s determine how much space Valorant takes.
Valorant storage space system requirements
We have a good idea why you reached us. You must’ve seen a plethora of system requirements for Valiant, as well as dedicated articles that mention Valorant only requires 7 GB, 8 GB, or 11 GB of disk space. While that statement isn’t wrong, it was only true for a time, more precisely, shortly after launch. It’s been over a year and a half since those specs were relevant. Simply put, things change over time.
Thus, at the time of writing this article, Valorant requires this much space, depending on the platform:
For Riot Games website
If you decide to go through the official website of Riot Games, you’ll need to download a Valorant executable that requires 65.8 MB of space. This is in stark contrast to the previous client size of 179 MB. After opening it and signing in to your account for Riot Games, you can download Valorant from the home screen. After selecting the location for the game, you may wonder what is the Vallorant install size.
Well, you’ll need to set aside 21.2 GB of storage space to install and play Valorant via Riot Games launcher. As soon as the game finishes downloading, you may need to download a few updates. None were substantial in our case, ranging from a few MB to about 150 MB. Riot Vanguard, the company’s anti-cheating software, is part of it.
Note. Since release, users reported numbers that go far past their storage hardware while looking up the game size in Windows File Explorer. This is a visual glitch and doesn’t impact the space Valorant takes on your drive.
Using Epic Games launcher
If you decide to acquire the game through the Epic Games client, you’ll need the client itself, which is about 150 MB. After installation, you’ll need about 500 MB for “Epic Games Services” and “Epic Games Launcher” executables. Then, you’ll download a small update that adds Riot Games account log-in screen and account integration, which is usually no more than 200 MB. Finally, you can download Valorant with the installation size we already mentioned.
That’s all you need to know about how big Valorant, Riot Games’ first-person shooter, is. As for whether the rest of your hardware and software is up to par, we suggest checking the Valorant requirements for the whole system.
