With everyone all over the globe staying at home due to the Pandemic, board games have been making a strong comeback. Games such as Ludo and Chess are taking off, with people playing them on their phones and desktops and even streaming the games for the world to see. If you are a player who wants to brush up on their Ludo skills or start learning more about the game, here are a few Ludo King tips and tricks to help you get started.
1. Open your pieces
Many players make the mistake of assuming that Ludo is a game of luck. While in reality, Ludo is all about the strategy used by players to gain the upper hand. Instead of simply allowing the roll of the die to control your pieces, capitalize on higher rolls and use the chance to get all of your pieces out onto the board. Having multiple pieces scattered around the board gives you the choice to attack, defend or retreat. While other players would be limited to making obvious moves, you can choose what to do with each move you make. Making your playstlye difficult to predict.
2. Be patient
Patience is a virtue, especially in Ludo. Many players want to begin attacking or reach the end as soon as possible, as winning the game is all they can see. But Ludo is all about strategic placement and patience. Having an opponent’s token land on you right when you are about to reach the goal is a good way to lose your temper and the game. Instead, we recommend that you play with the knowledge of where your piece can be placed next and where your opponent is heading. Placing your token on a star-shaped block allows you to be safe. When you are sharing this space with another player do not be in a hurry to head out. Wait for a strong roll or for the other player to leave first. Do not underestimate the psychological aspect of the game and don’t allow yourself to make hasty decisions.
3. Time to attack
Now that you have better control of the board and are willing to put in time to set up a trap, we can talk about attacking. While chasing opponents can create an advantage for you in Ludo, we recommend waiting it out and using exact rolls to dispatch opponents and send them back to their starting point. You can also block your opponents by placing your tokens on the safe spaces. This will make them think twice before moving their tokens and give you the advantage.
4. Understand the rules
In the game of Ludo, having the opportunity to roll again is extremely valuable. You can get this opportunity by rolling a six, landing on an opponent’s token, or by reaching the end with one of your tokens. These double rolls allow you to better formulate strategies and change the momentum of the game. Understand how and when you can do this and change the tide in your favor.
5. Try out different game modes
Ludo King has four different game modes. These are:
- Vs Computer
- Local Mode
- Online Multiplayer
- Private multiplayer
Each mode offers up different opponents who will employ different strategies to win. The computer will make the most logical choices, while in local multiplayer, your friends might be willing to play a bit more dangerously to score a win. Online, you could find innovative players that adopt unexpected strategies and still somehow seem to win. The different game modes come with their own advantages and disadvantages. Playing these will expose you to a variety of players and end up improving your game for good. So be sure to give all the different game modes a try.
