Around 5 months ago, we reported that Assassin’s Creed Origins is getting a 60 FPS patch on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The high FPS update will finally be rolled out on June 2. After this update, gamers should be able to play Assassin’s Creed’s epic Egyptian adventure at up to 4K resolutions at a frame rate of 60 FPS. Until today, the game was playable via backward compatibility at 1080p 30 FPS. This footage would then be upscaled to 4K and 1440p to display on relevant displays.
But, we cannot guarantee a massive boost in the overall experience due to this update. Assassin’s Creed Origins is a story-driven game. Thus, 30 FPS is perfectly fine for a title like this. Of course, 60 FPS will feel smoother, but the experience will not be significantly improved.
The game will be added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription on June 7. The addition of the 60 FPS patch a few days before the game makes its way to the service will let Xbox Series X|S gamers enjoy the title at a full 4K 60 FPS. Ubisoft confirmed the 60 FPS patch for Origins via a tweet on their official Assassin’s Creed Origins handle. The tweet says, “You’ve been waiting, and now the winds of Egypt are calling…”
The other two games in the new Assassin’s Creed trilogy, Odyssey and Valhalla, already support 4K at up to 60 FPS on the latest generation consoles. Apart from this patch, we are not expecting any major Assassin’s Creed content this year. Leaks surrounding a small Assassin’s Creed title featuring the character of Basim from Valhalla have surfaced for a while, and the game should come out in 2022 or 2023. But, we have no official confirmations to date.
Ubisoft is also supposed to host its independent event in the shows replacing E3 2022. The publishers are supposed to reveal a bunch of info on their upcoming games at this event. However, the company has been silent on this too. Assassin’s Creed is coming up with a live service game sometime within the next three to four years. It will be called Assassin’s Creed Infinity. The game is currently under development at Ubisoft Montreal. We are more info on this title in the upcoming few months.
