The Dark Knight returns to the “Epic” world of Fortnite! This time with a special edition comic series. With its ever-expanding platform, Fortnite has had multiple crossovers from Marvel, DC, and other games. During the last two years, Fortnite gained immense popularity by introducing skins and other cosmetics of characters like Ironman, Thor, Aquaman, Kratos, Deadpool, etc. The new Zero Point Season looks into the mysteries of the unstable energy core of Fortnite Island. We may find its truth venturing with the world’s greatest detective.
Epic Games have hyped up this well-planned crossover by giving players the chance to earn the new badass Batman: Zero point skin. You can earn this skin by collecting all the six issues of Batman Fortnite Zero Point. The Batman/Fortnite Zero Point #1 is out, introducing the caped crusader to Fortnite Island. Let’s check out the finer details of this issue and look for some cleverly hidden Easter Eggs:
A New Story
This new story begins with Batman and Commissioner Gordon looking at a rift (just like the ones we have in the game) that opened above them. Batman being Batman figures it out in a few seconds and states that it must be a tear in reality. As Batman approaches it to investigate further, he encounters Harley Quinn. Looking at her outfit, it’s clear that it is the skin that was introduced in the game earlier. She starts shooting the dark knight as soon as he tries reasoning with her. After a few moments of action, she discloses “They already went through” without her.
She doesn’t specify who but this clearly is a reference to other DC characters introduced into Fortnite. Especially the latest “The last laugh” bundle featuring, Poison Ivy, The Joker, and Midas Rex. But it could also mean other characters like Aquaman, Catwoman, or even the Black Manta. Continuing with the story, Harley Quinn jumps into the rift despite Batman’s warning. He stays back to analyze what the reality tear is. Before that though, he is kicked into the portal by some sword-wielding shadow. It is not revealed who it was but there is a strong possibility that it might be Deathstroke. As there are some talks about the Deathstroke skin which might be coming soon to the game.
The Journey Begins
While traveling through the space-time continuum rift, Batman completely blacks out. After an unspecified time, he wakes up on Fortnite Island. Soon enough he faces the storm closing in on the island. Soon the storm stops advancing, Batman notices this and confirms that it can’t be natural. So, it must be controlled by someone else on the outside. At this point, we can see he is at Camp Cod, in the southern part of the Island. It’s safe to say that as he keeps moving towards the center he will run into the Spire. As he is on his way he runs into a crazy ax-wielding man. But he is no match for the Dark knight as he has him pinned in a few seconds.
He tries to get some answers out of that man but surprisingly discovers that he has lost his ability to speak. He then attempts to use sign language by introducing himself but finds that he doesn’t even know who he is anymore. Guess everyone got tired of hearing the iconic line “I am Batman”.
Introspection
Looking back at the time when Thor landed on the island, he too lost most of his memories and couldn’t speak. After defeating the maniac and throwing him in the river, Batman stands heroically with his cape flapping in the wind, atop a red car on a hill. This spot in the game is near the old box factory, near the bunker. A few seasons ago the same red car was parked on top of a hill near the road. Considering the order of locations he is at, it seems he moved from Camp Cod to Catty Corner. Since the map version is around a year old, it signifies that Fortnite was planning this around a year ago!
Insanity?
The heroic moment is cut short as he gets in between a crossfire and soon a whole lot of characters start fighting on the scene. Looking at the non-human fighters like Peely and Gold Midas. Bruce theories that he might have gone mad and is in an Asylum. After defeating a few enemies, he suddenly recognizes one of the fighters, it’s Catwoman! Of course, he doesn’t exactly remember who she is, but he has a gut feeling he knows her, so does she. Soon, they start fighting back-to-back but still are wary of each other. Just as the ending of a Fortnite match is chaotic, so was this one.
The duo keeps fighting other opponents even as the storm closes in. In the last circle, they are the only ones standing. Both seem to have recognized that they share some deep bond. Looking at each other’s eyes they embrace as the storms closes in on them. Little do they know that they will be soon respawned.
Easter Eggs and other details
If you look at the DC trailer, you will notice that the storm particles are in the shape of cubes, referring most likely to “The Cube” from Season X. Extra details like this have been shown in the trailer. Like the notes, Batman seems to have written on his wrist’s armor “This has happened before” and “You have 22 minutes”. This is a six-issue series and considering the time left for this season to end, it will be safe to assume that the last two issues will carry over to the next season!
Since this is the first issue we don’t know much about the story. As more parts are released we will have a much clear picture of the story. Questions like who is behind the storm circles, who was the man who kicked Batman into the portal and why does time reset on this island every 22 minutes etc. will be answered. We will be back soon with the hidden details and Easter Eggs of the second issue!
