The second issue of the Batman/Fortnite Zero point is out! After the emotional ending of the first issue, players and fans alike have been waiting patiently for the second part. The story continues with a blast, with some fresh Easter Eggs to find. If you have played the game recently, you may have noticed the “Bat-shed” near Slurpy Swamp. Well, it’s not the ideal Batcave but our favorite caped crusader is making do with what he can. This “make do” can also be seen in the new Batman skin and cosmetics, which were recently released in the game. You can win another badass Batman skin as a reward for collecting all the codes from the six issues. As this skin is yet to be revealed, we do not know which Batman suit would be added to the game. It might be the Armoured Batman skin!
Back to the makeshift Batcave, you can visit this and find a few Batarangs, books, and a board on which he seems to be writing some theories. He has even sprayed his bat logo to remind himself to visit this place as his memory, like other characters in the game, has been erased. With new discoveries and revelations in the second issue of Batman/Fortnite Zero Point, we have a lot of hidden details to decipher and spot. Let’s get on to it:
The Story Continues
In the first scene, Batman wakes up without any memories and has no idea where he is. Looking at the wooden bridge over a small river, with trees all around, it’s obvious that this spot is in Weeping Woods. Since the artwork is from previous seasons, the bridge found in the game today is a bit different. It’s the Primal season in Fortnite after all. He soon finds writings on his armor stating “This has happened before”, “You have 22 minutes”, etc. Looking at these it seems that he concludes that he is trapped in a time loop. Upon further inspection of his gadgets, he finds several notes scrawled on them containing all the discovered information from all the loops. Even his armor is completely scarred with all the battles from the previous loops. Thus he concludes that the island is filled with opponents.
The Loop
Soon after he is ambushed by the character “Rukus”, the same character who attacked him first in issue 1! After defeating him, Batman makes his way over to the coordinates he had on his armor. He finds that he has been here for quite a long time as he has made himself a base. Batman enters his makeshift Batcave, as mentioned before you can find this in the game, near Slurpy Swamp. He finds tons of information he has collected but reasons that it might take more than 22 minutes to read everything. The Bat-shed in the game right now seems to have been a previous version of the one shown in the comic, as much of the paperwork is missing. Although a Laama plushie sits on top of his desk in the game. Maybe Bruce is starting to feel lonely.
A Friend?
The Bat finds a wooden slate on which is written: “The cat is a friend” with another set of coordinates. He embarks to find this “Cat”. Upon reaching the destination he finds a group of fighters engaged in combat. Between the muscle-packed Meowcels and Catwoman, on his gut feelings, he concludes it must be Catwoman. He joins her in battle but Catwoman fails to recognize him. They fight each other, but they are soo in the last circle of the storm. Batman quickly writes “The Bat is a friend” on one of his batarangs and gives it to Selina. In the hope that she too feels this bond between them.
Introspection
At this point, it is clear that after each game their memories are reset. Also, their actions in the previous game don’t seem to be affected. We can see this in the wear and tear of their armor. They can also trade things as mementos, which won’t be returned back to the original owner. Their injuries are also healed automatically after every reset.
The Next Loops
In the next loop, batman again leaves to find the “Cat” but this time around she finds him. Soon after they officially begin to work together. In the next loops, they begin to test the limits of the island and find that it is isolated also that they cannot reach much far away from it because of the storm. In the next loop, they search the deep waters around Sweaty Sands pier. He particularly looks for hatches or drains. As a hint, these hatches have been added in-game in various places, nonetheless, the hatches were not there when they searched for them in the comics.
Emotions
While traveling, Catwoman suddenly barges into Bruce, the latter thinking she has decided to betray him. He notices he is mistaken as she saved him from a shooter. Batman flies into a rage and destroys the other opponents. Even though he knows she will be back in the next loop, he is still enraged and saddened by her elimination. Bruce concludes that even though memories are wiped off, their feelings do carry over to the consecutive loops. This explains the growing bond of trust between the duo. In the next cycle, they encounter Harley Quinn bashing other opponents. They both feel like they know her but when they try to talk to her she doesn’t take it kindly and kicks Batman into the storm.
The Storm
Before he was eliminated by the storm, Bruce scribbles on his Batarang to ignore Harley and focus on the storm. In the next loops, the duo researchers on the storm’s movements by using the data from previous loops. They find that the last storm circle is at different places on the island. Later in the last circle of a game, they decide to experiment with something. Catwoman places one of their tools in the center of the storm circle to check if it would still be there in the next one. Bruce notes this location down and sure enough, they are right, the tool was still there in the next game. In the next one, they try this with themselves as at the center but to no avail.
The Last Woman Standing
Bruce thinks that it might work if there was just a single person in the last safe zone. Batman walks into the storm leaving Selina in the safe zone. But he soon notices that Catwoman is safe in a shimmering aura around herself. As his theory was proven correct he notes that only one person survives the storm. In the last circle of the second issue, the duo ends up at Coral Castle. In the end, Batman sacrifices himself for Selina to give her a Victory Royale but not before having a little bit of smooching time. The comic ends with Selina being the last survivor.
We don’t know what happened after Catwoman got the Victory Royale as this is narrated by Batman. And so the next loop begins, the Dark Knight again wakes up with his memories erased, soon after he is again ambushed by Rukus. But what happened to Catwoman? Did she break out of the Loop after the victory? or does the victory even matter? With answers to these questions, we will be back with issue #3, which will bring in some new revelations and mysteries.
