Battlefield 2042 is finally getting a new season. DICE was busy fixing bugs in the game and improving the overall experience based on player feedback. Recently, they added features like VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and reduced player count in Breakthrough. But, judging from the developer’s recent moves, they will not delay the season any further. The upcoming season will be the first to be introduced into the game, and it is going to be titled “Zero Hour”. The season is scheduled to roll out tomorrow, June 9.
New Content Coming With Battlefield 2042 “Zero Hour”
Battlefield will be adding a bunch of new content with this new season. It will reportedly last for 12 weeks with some patches midway. These include an all-new map, a battle pass, and a new specialist.
The All-New Map
The new map coming to the game is titled Exposure. It will introduce mountainous Canadian terrains to the game, much unlike the landscapes we have seen in the game so far. Players will get access to the map free of any additional charges. DICE has worked on this map keeping user feedback in mind. This includes designing Exposure in ways to make reduce the flat expanses between points. The map was also shrunk down in size. Although DICE is focused on reducing player counts, Exposure still is enough to fit in 128 players without a hitch.
The Battle Pass
The battle pass will add a bunch of unlockable content to this update. These weapons can be unlocked by playing the game, for free. Battlefield 2042 is only locking cosmetics to the paid version of the pass. DICE has confirmed that all battle pass content and unlockables can be claimed even after the season will be over.
The New Specialist
The new specialist being added to the game is Ewalina Lis. She can be unlocked for free in the game, by ranking up the battle pass to tier 4. This is unlike the system prevalent in other video games like Rainbow Six Siege, for example. Special Ability: Lis’ special ability is Armor Hunter. She can use this to detect nearby damaged enemy vehicles. Her G-84 TGM gadget can launch rockets that players can control via a nose-cam.
The upcoming patches that will be added to the game sometime during Season 2 will introduce a reworked version of Kaleidoscope. Players have strongly criticized this map, so the addition makes sense. The game will also be introducing updates to Battlefield Portal. Players can expect increased vehicle updates, reworked animations, and performance optimizations.
