Vanguard has been out for barely a month or so, and Call of Duty players are already anticipating the next title in the franchise. This is rather expected, as the next title is supposed to be a direct sequel to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot from 2019. Several renowned leakers have shared a lot of information on the upcoming sequel. We have learned it will be called “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II”. Moreover, the only naming difference from the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 is going to be the Romanization of ‘2’.
We also have learned that fan-favorite maps like Favela and Highrise are returning with this title. There also have been rumors surrounding the return of an infamous character in the series. However, Activision has not confirmed any of these developments. They are quite busy with internal matters, and the current broken state of Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare. But, a reliable industry insider, Tom Henderson, and Video Games Chronicle believe in a lot of these leaks, which sounds promising.
This means we will have two Call of Duty: Modern Warfares and two Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the same series. Additionally, things can get even more confusing if we get a sequel to the 2022 title.
Twitter leaker by the name @RalphsValve took to the platform the other day to confirm the leak of a massive amount of information on the upcoming game. Keep in mind, we don’t take the rumors as 100% confirmed. Although things might be true for now, some will change and evolve during development. Almost every developer out there does this, and Call of Duty 2022 won’t be an exception.
Today’s leak comes in the form of a gameplay mechanic that was never seen before in a Call of Duty title. It was earlier confirmed the new game will focus on player decisions. However, new details confirm characters in the campaign will live or die depending on the player’s choices.
In this tweet, we see Ralph confirm the advanced mechanics. The description confirms the fact the surrounding environment will affect the player-controlled character. The added focus on realism is nothing new in a Call of Duty game, but this time the game takes it to new heights.
Also, several classic characters from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are returning in the upcoming sequel. These include Captain Price, “Soap” Mactavish, “Roach” Sanderson, and Lieutenant General Shepherd.
All this is substantial news, but we do not take everything as conclusive and permanent. Remember: these are leaks and things are subject to and will undoubtedly change.
