Call of Duty is one of the longest-running video game series. With several ups and downs, these games leave a mark in the gaming industry every year. Most of these games have also changed the way we look at and play first-person shooter games. Thus, it is no surprise that gamers look forward to new Call of Duty games annually. Their Modern Warfare series is arguably the most successful of all Call of Duty games ever released. From classics like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot from 2019, this series has a lot to offer.
There have been rumors that the 2022 Call of Duty will be a sequel to the Modern Warfare reboot from 2019. Several reliable leakers have confirmed this news right after Vanguard came out last month. The next Modern Warfare title is going to be developed by Infinity Ward, and it will take the naming from 2009’s Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2. Only the number ‘2’ is going to be replaced with its Roman numeral, ‘II’.
Activision still has not confirmed anything about these leaks, and thus we don’t take them as conclusive. However, we can confirm that studying the trends the franchise has been taking, this might be true.
A few days ago, a Twitter leaker with the username @RalphsValve took to the platform to share a lot of information about the upcoming Call of Duty title. Besides leaks around the single-player mode of the game, he also leaked a lot of info on the multiplayer mode of this upcoming unannounced game.
His tweet includes all multiplayer modes and perks that will be returning to the game. These include extraction type mode, Ricochet Perk (it grants special ammunition that ricochets off of surfaces), and Bounty Hunter perk. He also mentioned the return of field upgrades and some operators, Floor (which will be Lava game mode), an Uplink mode, and a Hostage mode (close-quarters combat styled).
His tweet also included the maps that will be returning to this game. These include Favela, Terminal, Highrise, Shipment, and Quarry. Highrise is a fan favorite, and it has been in possibly every Modern Warfare game so far. A sci-fi version of it was also spotted in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare from 2016.
All these leaks look extremely promising. Task Force 141 is undoubtedly going to undertake an awesome mission in 2022!
