Square Enix recently confirmed that the Final Fantasy VII trilogy will continue with a new entry, titled Rebirth, next winter. The developers also have released a trailer showing the game for the first time. The new installment will be introducing several new features and elements to the Final Fantasy experience. Square Enix unveiled the title as a part of the recently hosted 25th Anniversary Celebration of Final Fantasy VII.
Final Fantasy VII Remake from 2019 expanded the original game’s story. It lived up to critical acclaim. The Remake introduced new mechanics alongside the enriched story in ways that made it a completely different game from the 1997 release. Fans have been waiting for a sequel ever since the FFVII Remake made its way to PS4, PS5, and Steam. The new story introduced in the 2019 release will be continued with the upcoming FFVII Rebirth.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Trailer Details
Final Fantasy also has released a First Look trailer for the upcoming game. The trailer showcases a few scattered scenes hinting at the conflict at the end of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Various familiar faces and voices are also seen and heard in the short 1-minute debut video. We learn about Cloud and Sephiroth’s complicated past and Zack Fair, the fan-favorite side character.
Final Fantasy VII Remake left us with a lot of questions. The upcoming entry seems to be focused on answering all of them, at least that is what the trailer suggests. However, it can open new windows and story cues to be solved and answered in a future prequel or sequel. Watch the trailer for yourself below:
Which Platforms Will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Launch On?
PC gamers will however be disappointed to learn that the upcoming title will be launched exclusively on the PlayStation 5. Whether the title remains a timed exclusive remains to be seen, so stay tuned.
When Will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth be Launched on the PS5?
We do not have a release date for the upcoming FFVII game, but Square Enix mentioned “next winter”. But, that is a wide release window, one spanning almost two quarters. “Next winter” could also refer to an early 2023 launch. We highly recommend that gamers play Final Fantasy VII Remake before Rebirth comes out if they have not already. The upcoming title will pick up from exactly where the Remake left off. The new game will probably show Cloud and his part of freedom fighters leaving the city of Midgar to explore the world. The trailer shows us glimpses of grasslands and valleys, which further support this theory.
Overall, Final Fantasy VII Remake was a fabulous game, and we are expecting Square Enix to deliver a better experience with the upcoming Rebirth title.
