Fortnite recently added the Robocop skin to the game. Epic Games has introduced a bundle of items for this movie superhero so that fans can enjoy it. These include a themed pickaxe, back bling, and an emote that can be bought separately or together as a bundle from the Items Shop. Unfortunately, it feels a bit outdated for the current young Fortnite audience. The original Robocop movie came out in 1987, almost 35 years from today.
But, the game seems to have caught the essence of this fearful enemy quite well. The character, when introduced back in the day, was an artistic critique of the elements of modern capitalist society, although quite violent. It was against the profit-focused corporations, the materialistic outlook of a capitalist government, corruption, and how the modern society, partly, is a failure. And, these themes are in sharp contrast to Fortnite. We know the massive battle royale game as a reflection of pop culture, one that can cross over with almost any element to appeal to its enormous fan base.
But, then we need to remember how the game has introduced similar characters like the Terminator, in the last few months. The game’s capability to collaborate with almost any character is noteworthy. Fortnite introduced characters from the Matrix on the occasion of the new film in the series, the X-Men, and characters from Assassin’s Creed. While all these characters are far apart in terms of lore, players can pick up any skin for V-Bucks, and play a match anytime.
Coming to the Robocop bundle, players get the following items as a part of it:
- Robocop skin
- LEG-209 pickaxe
- LEG-209 back bling
- Lil’ ED-209 emote
If gamers purchase both the pickaxe and the back bling, they can use them interchangeably. The LEG-209 is an element from the original Robocop movie. It is the leg of ED-209, a law enforcement machine that existed before the Robocop. Interestingly, the game also includes an emote, in which the Robocop skin is seen to imitate the moves of an ED-209.
Robocop is the 5th 80s-era action character to be introduced to the game. Previously, we have seen the Terminator, as mentioned earlier, the Xenomorph, Sarah Conner, and the Ripley. Technically, Robocop should be the sixth as the Predator (from 1987) skin is also available in the game, but it was a battle pass exclusive from a long-gone season. Players should clear the new Resistance quests and the current weekly challenges to be eligible to get this skin in their upcoming games.
