Epic Games has become known in the video gaming industry thanks to its philanthropic efforts in giving video games away for free. Although video game giveaways are nothing new, Epic’s epic approach is something never seen before. They give one free game away every week, and during the Holidays, they do something truly special. They give a free game away every day! 2021 is no exception to the standard Epic formula, and the offer is running from 16th December to 30th December 2021. The store is going to give away a free game every day for these 14 days, which works to a total of 14 games being given away.
22nd September was the 7th day of this offer, and we are halfway through the offer. We got yet another simple but great game today. The game is called Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. It is a turn-based tactical RPG from 2018. The game was developed by the Swedish developers The Bearded Ladies and published by Funcom. The basic idea is that a nuclear catastrophe has led to the extinction of mankind, and mutants rule the world. You play as petty animals who have learned to walk upright, and the worst of all: have learned to wield a gun in their hands. This idea is much like what we saw in Biomutant, a game that came out earlier this year.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden received mixed reviews upon launch back in 2018. The game was overly praised for its interesting and refreshing combat mechanics. It is not the game that will blow you away with cutting-edge MoCap technology or next-gen character models and lighting styles. However, for an indie studio, the game over-delivered. It is a great way to kill some of your leisure time. The game was developed using the state-of-the-art Unreal Engine 4, and its visuals are appealing, to say the least.
Also, for the fifth day in a row, the actual game did not match the list of the rumored games. At this point, we have completely lost faith in the list that was leaked a week ago. So, for the bottom line, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a great game. It deserves a chance, and we can guarantee that the game will be worth the time.
The next free game is rumored to be VAMPYR. However, we are taking this with a pinch of salt, and not 100% expecting to get this great video game from a few years back.
