Fans have been eagerly waiting for The Last of Us Remake for quite some time now. Luckily, Naughty Dog is remaking the critically acclaimed title from the ground up. Their re-release will feature crispy visuals and a more immersive experience thanks to the power of the ninth-gen home video game consoles. The best part is that this remake is also coming to PC. Sony also accidentally released some visuals and the release date of this upcoming title. Renowned industry insider and leaker Tom Warren has confirmed the accidental leaks. Sony was prepping to announce the game, as the images suggest. But, thanks to the leakers, we have information beforehand.
The Last of Us Remake is coming to the PlayStation 5 on 2nd September this year. We do not have a release date or window for the PC version of the remake yet, but the game will be coming to the platform at some point in time, probably in 2023. Sony will keep the remake a timed exclusive to incentivize players into buying their consoles.
This version of the game will also include the Left Behind DLC prequel. However, we have no information now on whether the Factions multiplayer mode will be back. According to Sony, this release will “overhaul” the original experience. It will be “faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options.” Sony will also add improved effects and enhance exploration and combat mechanics in the game.
The remake will release in two editions. The first one is the standard edition, which will include the reworked game and the Left Behind DLC prequel. The second edition is titled Firefly Edition, and will come with a steel book display case, the Last of Us: American Dreams comics issues 1-4 copies, and a few early in-game unlocks. We are waiting for more information on the in-game unlocks.
The Last of Us (2013) is a marvelous game. The game was re-released on the PS4 back in 2014, with reworked visuals. This time, Sony is bringing the experience forwards to the PS5, making it one of those very few titles playable across more than two generations of video game consoles. The game, along with its equally good 2020 sequel will make for a wonderful addition to the PS5 games library.
