The Point Lookout DLC from Fallout 3 was a particularly fun one. The expansion brought an island filled with weird in-bread mutants, who looked like the lower-class population from the countryside. These mutants would stop you from headshotting them with their thick and hardened forearms, which made the gameplay experience weirder. But, overall, it managed to deliver a fun experience and you would have a good time on this island. With the latest update, Point Lookout can also be played in Fallout 4.
The addition of Point Lookout to Fallout 4 is, however, not official. It has been made possible by the modders behind the Capital Wasteland project. Once complete, the Capital Wasteland project will include almost the entire Fallout 3 and its expansion content along with the newly recorded dialogue. All this content can be played from within Fallout 4. These modes have also worked on other praiseworthy projects in the past. Some of their releases include the classic metal armor, Capital Wasteland robots, Fawkes, Vault outfits, and much more, all in Fallout 4.
The Point Lookout DLC will be released independently. This independent release will have multiple quality of life improvements over the original Fallout 3 DLC. These improvements include dialogue tweaks to fit the story with Fallout 4 and some exclusive perks that were either cut out from the Fallout 3 variant of the DLC or were made console exclusives. The modded release also features a bunch more non-hostile animals on the map, and also includes an all-new settlement workshop in the game.
In the full release of Capital Wasteland, however, players will have to restart the game after successful installation. The developers of this mod require you to have the following to be able to install Point Lookout in Fallout 4:
- The base version of Fallout 4
- All DLCs released to date
- Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE)
- The Expanded Dialogue Interface mod
- The F4z Ro D-oh – Silent Voice mod (optional). Having this mod will enable you to obliterate voice speed issues in the missing lines of the current release.
Overall, the Capital Wasteland project looks interesting and the current release of the Point Lookout gives us a glimpse of what we can expect in the future.
