V Rising, the new survival PC game with vampires has risen to critical acclaim within a week of its release. It climbed the Steam charts and got to number 12 recently, which is a feat for an indie title. Currently, it is at number 7. The game is currently in early access and has PvE and PvP modes and is mostly online. The Swedish developers, Stunlock Studios, appreciate that V Rising deserves an offline treatment, and they are currently working on implementing one.
The idea of V Rising is quite simple. It focuses on Dracula, a vampire, who becomes a lumberjack and gets wood and other materials to build up his castle. Other than building the castle, the game also comes with unique combat, and all these elements make it extremely fun. But, the necessity of an online connection might be limiting for this title. The game does have a solo mode, but that requires you to be connected to the internet as well. This is pretty annoying for the players.
When asked a question on Discord, the developers said that they are prioritizing the implementation of an offline mode in the game. They also regretted the inconvenience caused to players with an inconsistent internet connection and apologized for the same. Finally, they declared that offline play should be available within the next couple of days or even earlier. The lack of offline play evokes a constant state of grief among players.
Other players in V Rising can block the entrance to your castle or even damage and conquer it if its Castle Heart has begun to decline. On PvE servers, players are getting tricked by other connected players, and that is preventing them from progressing in the game. Although the rebuilding process may be fun, getting the structures deleted every time you build them because you are on an online server is quite annoying.
Luckily, V Rising is extremely polished for an Early Access title. The game lacks only a handful of things, and offline mode is one. But, the game does feel a bit short. After you have built your dream castle and defeated all the bosses, you have nothing in particular to do. But, the game has a lot of bosses, and the PvP mode is waiting for you once you have exhausted nearly everything the game has to offer.
