Epic Games has won over the hearts of hundreds of thousands of gamers by giving video games away for free. Although video game giveaways are not an original idea on Epic Games’ part, the way they handle them makes them unique. Their giveaways only have one requirement: you need to have the Epic Games Store installed on your computer. You don’t have the lucky chap or bring social media engagement to the company. This is philanthropy at its best, and the gaming community has embraced Epic Games wholeheartedly.
During the holidays, Epic conducts one of their craziest giveaways. One free game is given away every day for 2 weeks straight. Not all are high-quality AAA titles, but we can’t deny that Epic does not go around giving away mediocre and bad games. This year has been no exception to the standard Epic Games formula. This holiday, the store is giving a free game away every day from December 16 to December 30. Today marks the 8th day of this offer, and we have got a great game from Epic Games.
The game that is being given away currently (until 4.00 PM UTC tomorrow) is Vampyr. As the name suggests, Vampyr is a vampire-themed video game with a focus on action and role-playing. It was developed by the creators of the Life is Strange series Tell Me Why, DONTNOD Entertainment. The game was published by Focus Home Interactive back in June 2018.
Vampyr — A Game That Will Make You Self-Reflect
Vampyr puts you in London, 1918, where a doctor named Jonathan Reid has turned into a vampire. Reid is the main playable character and the protagonist of the game. The game is a portrayal of a much larger mental quest within the doctor. He constantly fights between his Hippocratic Oath, which he took before becoming a practicing doctor, and his newfound bloodthirsty monster-like nature, which forces him to kill the innocent for his pleasure.
The game has the usual DONTNOD formula with twists, excellent narration, and a unique graphics style. The title also gives you an option to avoid much of the combat, which may help your conscience stick to the Doc’s Oath. Although a small touch, this does escalate the experience.
The next free game in this game is rumored to be Pathfinder: Kingmaker. It will go free tomorrow at 4 PM UTC. We don’t fully believe the rumor. However, considering the last leak matched the game that was given away, the probability of getting this awesome isometric RPG is quite high. We’ll keep you posted!
