Epic Games does some epic stuff during the Holidays season. The year 2021 was no exception. We got free games every day for 14 days, starting from December 16th to December 30th. On December 31st, Epic ended the year with a banger by giving away not one, not two, but three titles away on the same day. This is something never seen before. But, what will raise even more eyebrows is that all of these three titles are AAA games with amazing storylines, astounding character development, and world-class visuals.
The Free Games You Can Claim Today
The three games that are free today on Epic Games are the three recent Tomb Raider games. These include the entire rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy. The games are as follows:
1. Tomb Raider (2013)
Tomb Raider from 2013, the 10th release in the series, was a reboot that redefined Lara Croft’s origins. The game is an action-adventure narrative played from a third-person perspective. It was originally launched on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows, and initial reviews were quite positive. The version Epic Games is giving away is Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, which is a remastered version of the game from 2014, and was meant for release on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One back in the day. The remastered version comes with significantly improved visuals, better lighting, and an enhanced experience.
2. Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015)
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a sequel to the original Tomb Raider game from 2013. Following player feedback, this game sees Lara Croft venture into the frozen lands of Siberia to find the legendary city of Kitezh. The antagonists come in the form of Trinity, a group that has also been spotted in the 2018 title, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The game was released as a timed Xbox exclusive back in the day and launched on Microsoft Windows in 2016.
Epic is giving away the 20 Year Celebration pack, which contains DLCs and skins apart from the base game. These include the Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened, Blood Ties, and the Lara’s Nightmare DLC stories. Also, the Season Pass, a Co-Op mode, a Tomb Raider III-inspired weapon and outfit, and 5 classic Lara Croft skins.
3. Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018)
Shadow of the Tomb Raider from 2018 is the third and final game in the rebooted trilogy. The game is set in Central and South America, with elements and plots based on the Mayan and the Aztec civilizations. The core antagonist is the Trinity group again, and Lara sets on to save the world from a Maya apocalypse. Epic Games is giving away the Definitive Edition of the game, which comes with the base game and all the 7 downloadable content released post-launch.
