Xbox Series X started its presales on September 22 which was yesterday. But why did the Xbox One X sales have increased exponentially over the past 24 hours? Is it a coincidence? Or are we witnessing a hilarious mistake made by thousands of users? The naming of the Xbox series may not be something that non-gamers would easily catch. Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and now the Xbox Series X. For someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience with buying consoles, or generally in gaming, it is hard to tell which one released first and which one was the latest. Unlike Playstation which has a series of names like PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and now the PlayStation 5, Xbox did a bad job there.
According to a tweet made by @AndrewAlerts, Xbox One X sales went up by 747% on Amazon the same day Xbox Series X started its presale. Unfortunately, it seems like so many people bought the Xbox One X instead of the newly released Xbox Series X. The “X” really made them confused.
Or, if we are wrong, Microsoft did some amazing marketing job to sell out to their previous console, which seems weird considering that they just released a new model in the series. So it is probably what we think it is, Amazon is going to get a lot of returns soon.
Another possibility is that the bots that purchase items that are selling like hot dogs or newly released in-demand products and selling them at a higher price bought all these Xbox One X devices instead of the Xbox Series X model mistakenly. If so, someone is going to lose a lot of money on Amazon.
Whatever the reason is, they are probably going to return all these models to get back the new Xbox Series X. But it will be too late for them to get one. So we think, Microsoft should do a better job naming their consoles.
