Recording games is extremely easy these days. There are a lot of tools available on the market to record games on any of your platforms. Xbox Game Bar is such a useful tool available on Windows operating systems that allow you to simply record any game that you want. Unlike many professional tools out there, the Xbox Game Bar is built focusing on the minimalistic approach by providing the necessary configuration only. It is one of the best game recording tools available on the market, suitable for any type of game recording.
Xbox Game Bar – A quick look
If you are looking for a professional screen recording software, Xbox Game Bar will disappoint you. It is not a fully fledged software that has everything you might require as a video editor. It simply focuses on allowing users to record games without much complexity. That doesn’t mean that the software is not suitable for professional game recordings. You can adjust the recording resolution, choose whether to record audio or not, take screenshots, and much more.
The floating widget has different windows for different functionalities taking up most of the screen, which will be hidden as soon as you start recording. Some might find it useful to quickly access the application features. It will even show you the resource usage to help you measure the impact of the recording on your PC to decide whether it can handle the recording process or not.
The use case of the tool is pretty straight-forward. If you are not planning on developing a professional YouTube channel or something, and just want to record your favorite gameplay to watch later, this is the perfect tool for you. Choosing such a simple tool over complex mechanisms helps avoid the complexity that comes with it. On the other hand, if you are planning to take it to the next level, you might want to go for a professional game recording software. OBS is a great example.

Where are the Xbox Game Bar recordings saved?
Xbox Game Bar will automatically save the video to the Videos > Capture Folder under your Windows user profile. To reach there, you can simply click on the See my captures button on the game bar widget.
What to do after recording?
Depending on your use case, you might want to work with the file a bit. Especially things like compression, quality adjustments, etc. should be done with an external tool as the Xbox Game Bar doesn’t have those functionalities. If you are uploading it to any platforms such as YouTube or Facebook, we would highly recommend compressing the output with tools such as Handbrake to reduce the file size drastically.
