Heist is one of the most popular features in GTA 5 Online, so it’s unsurprising you want to start one. Heists represent high-stakes missions that require planning and teamwork to complete and can provide a serious adrenaline rush. If you’re still thinking about beginning a heist in Grand Theft Auto 5 Online, you should know a few things.
Requirements for Starting a Heist in GTA 5 Online
These are the prerequisites to begin a heist in GTA Online:
- Rank 12 or higher to begin a heist
- Have a crew of 4 players
- Each player will need to have a different role in the Heist: Driver, Gunman, Shield, Lookout.
- Purchase a Heist Planning Room from the Maze Bank Foreclosures website. You must have a high-end apartment to do so (the cheapest goes for $200,000)
- Receive a phone call from Lester and finish The Fleeca Job before you can start other heists
Once you have the Heist Planning Room, start planning the robbery by selecting it from the Interaction Menu. Now:
- Select the “Plan Heist” option and choose your role.
- The other players in your crew will need to select their roles, and you’ll all need to agree on a final plan
- Once you have a plan, you can initiate it by selecting the “Start Heist” option from the Interaction Menu.
1. Choose a Heist in Grand Theft Auto 5 Online
There are five different heists in Grand Theft Auto V, each with a unique setup and gameplay:
- The Fleeca Job is a two-player heist that starts with a bank robbery.
- The Pacific Standard Job is a four-player heist where you and your team must rob a bank and make your escape.
- The Prison Break represents a three-player heist where you must break out of prison and make an escape.
- The Humane Labs Raid refers to a four-player heist where you and your team must break into Humane Labs and steal their data.
- The Merryweather Heist is a four-player heist where you and your team must pocket some weapons from Merryweather Security.
Note. Some heists, like The Diamond Casino Heist, require you to purchase a specific apartment beforehand, in this case, a retro Arcade property. Similarly, The Cayo Perico Heist demands you own The Kosatka Submarine first.
2. Select Your Team
Once you have chosen a heist, you must choose your team. You can either decide to play with friends or other players online or play with AI (Artificial Intelligence) characters. If you are playing with friends, make sure you have a good mix of skills on your team. You will need someone good at driving, shooting, and hacking. If you are playing with AI characters, you can select their skill set when you set up the heist. Make sure to favor characters that complement each other’s skills.
3. Set the Heist Up
Once you have selected your team, you will need to configure the heist. This involves picking your equipment, planning your route, and ensuring everyone is on the same page. If you are playing with friends, you will need to use the in-game chat to communicate. Ensure everyone knows their role, has a stable Internet connection, and what to do if things turn awry. If you are playing with AI characters, they will automatically be given a role based on their skill set. You can still use the in-game chat to communicate and give them orders, but their role is predetermined.
4. Execute the Heist and Get Paid
Once you have set up the GTA 5 Online heist, it’s time to start and execute it. This is where the actual gameplay comes in, and you will need to put your skills to the test. Make sure you follow the plan and stay calm under pressure. If things go wrong, don’t panic – think of a new plan and execute it. Once you have completed the heist, you will be rewarded with money. Like other cash you can make in GTA 5, you can use it to upgrade your equipment, or buy new weapons. Essentially, spend it on whatever you want.
