Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a great game, although not truly an “Assassin’s Creed” title. The game looks phenomenal on both the last-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it looks stunning when played in 4K on PC. However, there were some complaints when it came to optimization on some lower-end hardware. Even the minimum PC system requirements Ubisoft lists for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey struggled at 1080p. The frame rates even dip into the low 20s in intense scenarios. The publisher also requires you to have at least an AMD FX 6300 @ 3.8 GHz, an Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.1 GHz, or a Ryzen 3 1200 paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2 GB or an AMD Radeon R9 285 2 GB to get the game up and running at 720p 30fps using the Low preset.
The era of HD gaming is long gone, and 1080p has become the bare minimum ever since the eighth-generation consoles were introduced. It is fairly awkward that Ubisoft listed a 720p 30fps system in their requirements. In contrast, playing the game at 4K 30fps requires you to own an AMD Ryzen 1700X @ 3.8 GHz or Intel Core i7 7700 @ 4.2 GHz combined with an AMD Vega 64 8 GB or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB. These are completely acceptable as newer graphic cards pack a lot more power compared to the GTX 1080 while costing less.
Ubisoft also lists systems that can play the game at 30fps. This makes sense as Odyssey is a single-player exploration-focused and narrative-driven game. We will list the requirements to play the game at 60fps since that is the new standard.

Additional Notes
Odyssey does not support Nvidia’s SLI, AMD’s Crossfire, and Dolby Atmos technology. While SLI and Crossfire are almost dead and no one used them these days, the lack of support for Dolby Atmos is concerning. Atmos enhances immersion and players with a good home theater system will be disappointed.
Odyssey also does support select CPUs. Certain older hardware, although capable enough, cannot run Odyssey. The supported CPUs and graphics cards are listed below. If a particular series is not mentioned, that means it is not supported.

Supported Gamepads
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is best played using gamepads Ubisoft officially supports. While other gamepads can work, they aren’t sanctioned by Ubisoft. Therefore, players need third-party software to get them to work, which is both risky and introduces bugs. The supported gamepads include:
- Mouse and keyboard
- Microsoft Xbox 360 gamepad
- Microsoft Xbox One gamepad
- Microsoft Xbox Series X|S gamepad
- Sony Dualshock 4 controller
Other controllers like the Tobii Eye and any third-party Xbox controller need third-party software.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, and Google Stadia. It is also playable at up to 4K 60fps on the latest PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
