Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the series’ first next-gen title. It was a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S and a successor to 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The visuals of the game are pretty good, but poor optimization on PC destroys the experience on entry-level hardware. The minimum Assassin’s Creed Valhalla system requirements are Core™ i5 4460 or a Ryzen™ 3 1200 coupled with a Radeon™ R9 380 or GeForce™ GTX 960. And that’s just to get started! The lower bar is considerably higher compared to other 2020 AAA titles. Ubisoft might have done this to avoid complaints regarding lackluster optimization, but they couldn’t suppress it completely. Frequent stutters and frame drops ruin the PC experience, even on some high-end hardware.
