God of War is yet another great PlayStation exclusive that got ported to PC a few days ago. The port plays like a dream, and the experience is still as immersive as it was on the PlayStation. The developers have done a great job in optimizing the entire gameplay to suit mouse and keyboard players. Playing with an Xbox controller feels satisfying, too. Moreover, the PC port also comes with native support for the PlayStation controller for people who want to experience the game the way the developers originally meant it to be.
The lower bar of entry into God of War is quite low. Santa Monica Studio asks you to have at least an Intel Core i5 2500K or a Ryzen 3 1200 coupled with a GTX 960 or an R9 290X to play the game at 720p 30 FPS using the lowest settings. This is pretty acceptable as all of this hardware is over 5 years old.
The recommended system requirements for playing the game at 4K 60 FPS demand you have a hefty system. Santa Monica Studio lists at least a Core i9 9900K or a Ryzen 9 3950X coupled with an RTX 3080 10 GB or an RX 6800 XT 16 GB to play the game at Ultra settings. This is a bit on the higher end, but 4K 60 FPS isn’t quite the standard yet.

God of War on PC is a bit demanding compared to some other games, but you don’t need the latest hardware to enjoy it. The game runs fine on some older hardware, and even the GTX 700 series cards manage to pull off a playable frame rate at lower resolutions. Although Nvidia dropped support for their GTX 700 series of cards a few months back, those cards are still quite capable of 720p gaming, and this game will work just fine.
God of War is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Microsoft Windows.
