New World is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Double Helix Games and published by Amazon Game Studios. It was delayed several times from March 2020, until it was finally released on September 28, 2021. Sadly, its launch was criticized for several reasons – lack of depth in combat, lifeless open-world, and bricking RTX 3090s, to name a few. However, Amazon stated the game would run on some very old hardware. Amazon Game Studios requires you to have at least an Intel® Core™ i5-2400 @3.10 – 3.40 GHz or an AMD CPU with 4 physical cores @ 3Ghz coupled with an NVIDIA® GeForce™️ GTX 670 2GB or an AMD Radeon™ R9 280 to play at the lowest settings at 1080p 30fps. Some of this hardware is over seven years old, and Nvidia even stopped supporting the GTX 600 series. Ergo, these are acceptable system requirements for New World.
According to them, you can get the game up and running using an Intel® Core™ i7 2600K @3.40 – 3.80 GHz or an AMD Ryzen™ 5 1400 @3.20 – 3.40 GHz coupled with an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970 or an AMD Radeon™ R9 390X or better. Those specifications are significantly higher than other 2021 AAA titles. However, considering the huge amount of resources that massively multiplayer online games require, this may be justified.
Also, New World does not come with support for Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR. So, dropping the resolution to get some more frames won’t be a very good idea, regardless of the GPU.
