Being one of the most popular video games of all time, Minecraft is being played by millions of gamers all over the globe. It’s not hidden that, almost all of your friends also enjoy playing this Mojang game. Coming to the matter, you are here because you want to adjust the zooming on Minecraft. You wish if it was as easy as using the scroll bar on your mouse. But unfortunately, it is not. Unlike those FPS games, that allow you to easily zoom in and out while holding a gun to AIM at the enemy, Minecraft does not come with such a feature.
But what does it have a feature called FOV (Field of Vision) that allows you to control how much of the Minecraft world in front you see at a time. So in short, you will not be able to dynamically adjust the zoom of the game using your scrollbar or keyboard. Instead, you can set a definite amount of field of vision after testing it out for some time. In this article, we are going to discuss that.
Steps to Zoom in/out on Minecraft
- While playing Minecraft, press Esc on your keyboard. It will open the game menu.
- Now click on the Options button.
- On the screen that shows up, you can see a setting known as the Field of View or FOV in short.
- Adjust the FOV as per your requirements.
- Once you figured out the best FOV for your comfort, click on the Done button to take you back to the game screen.
You can slide the FOV slider to the left to zoom in and to the right to zoom out. Which means, as much as you slide it to the left, the field that you can see on the screen will be reduced by zooming in. If you slide it to the right, the amount of area you can see on the screen will be increased. As simple as that.
This is obviously not the only option to adjust the zoom in Minecraft. But this is the only officially supported way of doing so. If you need a much better control system for zooming and want to adjust it dynamically, you can depend on some “accessibility features” such as the “Magnifier” that comes with Windows and macOS “gesture controls”. Such OS-specific features will also allow you to zoom in or zoom out on Minecraft whenever you need. But the quality of the game might be altered based on how much area you are zooming in.
